DR TERRY COOKE-DAVIES RECEIVES APM's TOP AWARD

APM winner's logoAt a London ceremony on 31st October, Dr Terry Cooke-Davies, Executive Chairman of Human Systems, became the APM's 2006 Sir Monty Finniston Award winner.Terry Cooke-Davies receives prestigious Monty Finniston AwardThis is APM’s most prestigious award and is given to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of project management as a vehicle for effective change.

In honouring Terry in this way, the APM has recognised 30 years of  commitment to the profession. First known for his pioneering work on project management benchmarking in the mid-80s, Terry was one of the first to focus on the role of project management within the overall context of general management and he now works steadfastly to bridge the gap between academic research and effective corporate improvement, through Human Systems' Network.   Many have benefited from Terry's great talent for facilitation and the thought-provoking views that arise from reflection on the results of his facilitation.

In keeping with his normal level of activity, Terry was unable to be at the awards ceremony as he was running a workshop in Australia. read more

6TH ANNUAL GLOBAL WORKSHOP

6TH ANNUAL GLOBAL WORKSHOP

Managing Complexity to Optimise Capacity

14 & 15 November 2007, Dubai

We are now well into the process of planning the 2007 event and are happy to announce that this will take place in Dubai on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th November.  This Global Workshop will be based on current research, led by Human Systems, into the relationship between project complexity, productivity and the delivery of results.

Organisations are continually challenged to increase value through improving productivity. An ability to manage complexity to optimise capacity is key to meeting this challenge.

Please join us to help us explore this critical theme.

Contact Rebecca Phillips phillipsr@humansystems.net or telephone +44 (0)207 290 2766 to register your interest.

The cost of the workshop itself is covered by your membership. Travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of individual delegates, but we will shortly be able to pass on details of our discounted accommodation package.

JOIN OUR VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS

Whilst most of Human Systems’ Networks are largely geographically based, the Pharma & Biotech Network includes members from across the world.  Last year we successfully piloted virtual workshops, or webinars, adding to the opportunities to share good practice and reducing the amount of travel that our members needed to get value from our workshop programme.  The Pharma Network will continue with face-to-face workshops, but will now also offer three virtual events in 2007.

March 2007 - Earned Value Management and Critical Chain Planning
Find out how the Critical Chain Method can enable projects to be completed more quickly and with greater scheduling reliability.

How can it be combined with Earned Value techniques to reduce uncertainty and produce meaningful metrics throughout the project lifecycle?

June 2007 – Project Reward and Recognition
Are the right people always rewarded? What is the effect of motivation on project results?

September 2007 – The Role of Governance
What is the effect of good, or less good, governance on the likely success of a project? What does ‘good’ governance entail and what structures and processes should organisations be putting in place?

For more information or to register for these virtual workshops, please email Debbie.Del-signore@humansystems.netBack to the top of the page
