Metronet Rail Capital Projects

Simon Springate is currently Programme Integration Manager for Metronet Rail Capital Projects. He has spent over 25 years in Project Management, starting with GEC on Naval Sonar and then spending 17 years in London Underground (LUL) performing many roles including; Head of Project Planning, Head of Document Management, Business Systems Client and lead Value and Risk Management Facilitator.

During his time at LUL, he qualified as a Professional in Value Management under the auspices of the Institute of Value Management and ran many workshops improving project delivery and significantly reducing costs of capital projects. With the advent of the government's Public Private Partnership (PPP) he now leads on Project Planning across the Metronet group and is responsible for setting standards and developing the skills of over 90 planners.

Over the last 3 years he has been leading the implementation of an Earned Value Management (EVM) system to support Metronet's capital project portfolio and meet the requirements of London Underground (LUL). Metronet holds two of the Infrastructure PPP contracts providing maintenance and Capital works to LUL under a 30 year contract.
