ROEL STAUSEBACH
Head of Projects (Anglo Technical) - Anglo American plc

As Head of Projects, Roel is responsible for defining practices for corporate project strategy and the structures, skills and governance required to successfully pursue investment opportunities.

He is also responsible for the Investment Reviews for Anglo Group, where he has to provide a sound framework and infrastructure to ensure a competent and efficient review process while imparting project best practice through lessons learnt.

He has developed, and is currently implementing, the Capital Efficiency Improvement Programme defining the most appropriate organizational structure and skills profile given the corporate project pipeline.

Roel has 29 years' experience in the Mining and Industrial sectors, of which the initial 9 years were in a production environment and the last 20 years in project management. This has included roles in project and program management as well as development roles in project and portfolio services and systems. He has managed small through to large multi-discipline projects from conceptual to execution stage, as well as setting up systems and methodologies to improve corporate capital efficiency and governance. He has practised as an independent consultant on project management and has participated extensively in project audits and mergers and acquisitions. He is a mechanical engineer and a registered Professional Construction Project Manager (Pr.CPM).
